The Information Delivery Service proudly announces its first public lecture on the topic of Information Speculation.

Attempts are being made by each one of us to make some sense of the constant stream of social, audio, spatial, visual, local and global information in which we find ourselves precariously spinning. Each of us attempts to do so equipped with approximately 1.4kg of electrolysed grey matter. At this moment in time no method has yet been employed by the human race to absorb and funnel this data to a satisfactory level. 

The IDS is dedicated to developing it's own idiosyncratic concepts of communication and information, knowledge and expertise. They aim to then dissolve these structures and wallow somewhere in between imagination and anxiety and take pleasure in the inevitable impossibility of information delivery.

Please join us for a one-hour performative lecture on the subject of information itself.

The Moebius

On Saturday, March 22, 2003 Improv Everywhere agents created a living moebius strip in the Astor Place Starbucks. Seven undercover agents meticulously repeated a five-minute slice of time for twelve consecutive repetitions. Starbucks employees and patrons were frightened, confused, and ultimately entertained as they found themselves stuck, without escape, in the middle of a time loop.

Proposals for Intervention

Perpetual Cleaning Stage 1
There are people cleaning old statues around the college. In a pair, one of you stands on a box fairly close to one of the cleaners and their statue. The other cleans you from head to toe using similar tools to the statue cleaners such as cotton wool, brushes and water. You begin when they begin. You take breaks when they take breaks. You go home when they go home. Interaction with each other and the cleaners should be kept to a minimum.



Perpetual Cleaning Stage 2
Now you have developed an affinity with the statue cleaners, you wish to aid them in their task. You must wait until they have left their station unoccupied. Each time they leave you must add materials to their cleaning kit, one item at a time. This may include topping up their water pots or adding items such as cotton wool balls, blue rubber gloves and brushes. They must not see you.
