Plane Talking

http://www.frieze.com/issue/article/plane-talking/

"Aeroplanes also seem to lead to scatty art (generally, when the camera aims at the wing, you know you’re doomed)."

Reminds me of a tutorial I had once where it was said my work was doomed to failure. But that's ok.

Images and what to do with them. How should they exist?

Metaxy

Existence has the structure of the Inbetween, of the Platonic metaxy, and if anything is constant in the history of mankind it is the language of tension between life and death, immortality and mortality, perfection and imperfection, time and timelessness, between order and disorder, truth and untruth, sense and senselessness of existence

Limbo

On Sunday we went to hear Simon Faithfull talk about his work, in particular his drawing projects, at DNA Galerie

He makes these drawings on a palm pilot or iphone and then sends them out to everyone on an ever expanding mailing list.

It was interesting to hear the gallerists thoughts on Simon's work and his wanting to argue that they they weren't drawings as they weren't on paper, and that they couldn't be owned or sold.

A New Refutation of Time

It is not licit to speak of the form of the moon or of it's colour; the form and colour are the moon; neither can one speak of the perception of the mind, since the mind is nothing other than a series of perceptions.

Gaining Stereo Vision

"Space was very contracted and compacted. So if I looked at a tree, the leaves or the branches would appear to overlap one in front of another. But I didn't actually see the pockets of space between the actual branches. So the world was actually smaller and more contracted before my vision changed."
Susan Barry, Neurobiologist

Full interview with Susan Barry here, who gained 3D vision at the age of 48.
